TRAUMA & EMDR THERAPIST IN PALM BEACH GARDENS

Meet Nicole St John, LCSW

I believe therapy works best when you feel understood as a whole person, not reduced to a diagnosis or one difficult chapter of your life.

I have been practicing since 2005, helping people navigate trauma, addiction, mental health concerns and difficult patterns that can make life feel smaller than it should. My role is not to tell you who you are. It is to listen carefully, understand what you have lived through and help you find a path toward meaningful change.

HOW I WORK

Therapy starts with understanding you.

Healing is rarely a linear path, and I do not believe one therapeutic approach works for everyone.

I want to understand your history, your strengths, what has already been tried and what continues to get in the way. From there, we can build an approach that makes sense for your particular needs.

My work is collaborative. You bring a lifetime of knowledge about yourself. I bring more than two decades of clinical experience, training and perspective. Together, we will develop a personalized path forward that honors your history and strengths.

MY SPECIALTIES AND APPROACH

I help patients work through:

  • Complex trauma

  • PTSD and traumatic experiences

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Mood disorders

  • Addiction and recovery

  • Difficult relationship patterns

  • Faith transitions

  • Spiritual concerns and spiritual trauma

Depending on your needs, therapy may incorporate:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma processing

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to examine unhelpful thought and behavior patterns

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation and mindfulness

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma and PTSD

  • Schema Therapy to explore deeply rooted patterns and beliefs

Change is possible.

Therapy can help you find your way toward it.

CLINICAL BACKGROUND & EXPERTISE

More than two decades of work across clinical settings.

Before launching my private practice, I spent years refining my skills across a broad spectrum of clinical settings. My leadership roles have spanned hospitals, addiction treatment centers and county mental health agencies. Those settings gave me experience working with people facing a wide range of mental health concerns and levels of clinical complexity.

I specialize in complex trauma and hold an advanced certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process traumatic memories and the beliefs, emotions and reactions connected to them.

For some patients, trauma work means addressing a clearly identifiable experience. For others, it means untangling years of patterns, emotional responses or beliefs that have become deeply rooted over time. My goal is to help you understand what you are carrying, process what no longer serves you and create room for something different.

Today, as a state-approved Qualified Supervisor, I also have the privilege of mentoring and training the next generation of clinical social workers in Florida.
