Addiction therapy with experienced counselors

At St John Counseling, we have decades of experience in addiction counseling. Mark’s career began in 1999 when he took a role as a substance use therapist at a residential treatment center, eventually becoming the program’s clinical director. Nicole’s career is nearly as long, beginning with similar roots as an addiction therapist in a residential setting.

While we won’t claim we’ve seen it all, we’ve seen a lot. This experience gives us a wealth of knowledge of how therapy actually works for people throughout the continuum of active addiction and recovery

Through our career-long, active study of techniques and their applications, we’re equipped to help you tap into your ability to problem-solve. You’re stronger than you realize, and we have the expertise needed to help you see what’s possible in your life!

No matter how lost, defeated, or powerless you feel right now, we can help you find a path to recovery.

As therapists, we don’t judge; that doesn’t help anyone! We see ourselves as guides, showing you where to start and how to do the needful work of taking back your life from substances. It’s a process of ups and downs, and we will be right there at your side for all of them.

You are so much more than your problem drinking or drug use. You matter, as you are, and we know that you’re worthy of care and support.

Everyone's path through addiction and recovery is unique

Therapy is all about creating a trustworthy space where you can share what you’re going through. By looking at your whole life, not just substance use, we can craft an individual treatment approach that actually works for you.

Addiction and recovery is a long and winding journey, and as your trusted therapist and guide, we consider it a privilege to come along with you on that journey.

Your individual therapy plan may include:

  • Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT)

  • Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT)

  • Relapse prevention planning

  • Gestalt therapy

  • Interpersonal psychodynamics

  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)

  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Jungian analysis

  • Biopsychosocial modeling

  • Humanist and person-centered approach

We take a flexible approach to therapy, getting to know you as an individual to determine which skills will help most.

Personalized mental health treatment for adults, couples, and families in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Addiction counseling that embraces faith

We know that faith and spirituality are part of many people’s lives (including our own). and we find that it’s helpful to welcome spirituality into the therapy process for people struggling with problem drinking or drug use.

We find that addiction counseling is more successful when we remain true to faith-based values and principles, especially those that underlie the 12 Steps.

Addiction often has its roots in deeply entrenched beliefs and behaviors. By exploring foundational faith principles as part of the therapy process, our patients are able to let go of these strongholds and turn toward their personal truth.

Therapy that supports all of your mental health needs

Our years of experience in addiction counseling have shown us that patients dealing with problem drinking are also often dealing with co-occurring mental health conditions.

To fully uncover your ability to create positive change in your life, we feel that comprehensive addiction counseling must include mental health support.

As experienced addiction therapists, we have the training and experience needed to support patients managing most mental health disorders, and we are confident we can help you too.
