Are you looking for therapy from experienced counselors?
At St John Counseling, we have decades of experience from working in treatment centers and in private practice, helping people from all walks of life to realize their strengths, break down barriers to growth, and find the will to change.
We’ve taken the time in our careers to develop a deeper understanding of mental health and how therapy works, and our experience enables us to tap into a wealth of knowledge and experience to support our patients.
It’s not uncommon for patients to come to us feeling defeated and powerless. Life’s challenges often seem insurmountable, and many aren’t sure change is possible.
As your therapist, we can help. With the right support, you can overcome adversity and uncover your innate ability to problem solve.
Everyone has the power to change their life, you just need guidance on where to start and how to do the work.

Therapy that embraces faith
We know that faith and spirituality are part of many people’s lives (including our own), and we find that it’s helpful to welcome spirituality into the therapy room as part of mental health treatment.
Many challenges and trials to mental wellbeing are rooted in strongholds; deeply entrenched beliefs and behaviors that hold you back and keep you from understanding your spiritual truth.
We find that helping patients understand spiritual principles can be a meaningful way to help people dig out of these strongholds and start building a path toward fulfillment and wellbeing.
Mental healthcare for those dealing with problem drinking
At St John Counseling, we have years of experience providing therapeutic support to patients managing problem drinking or problem drug use as well as co-occuring mental health conditions.
We offer nonjudgmental counseling that offers hope. We know you’re capable of positive change, and we have the understanding of both problem drinking and mental health to provide therapy that actually sees and helps you.
We take a collaborative approach to mental health, and we welcome the opportunity to be a part of your care team.

We have had many patients come to us after finding little success with other therapists. The most common thing we hear from these patients is that they actually feel heard here.
We have a broad range of experience, are capable of using a multitude of therapeutic approaches, and we start with you, as a whole person, as the foundation of your treatment.
Generalizations don't help anyone heal. Everyone's story is unique and it's important to us to respect and understand.
-
For your first session, your therapist will welcome you and encourage you to share what you’re going through, and what you’d like help with.
You’ll be asked thoughtful questions during the session to get a better idea of:
Who you are
Your life history and family background
Your current circumstances
As your therapist listens carefully, they’ll begin to form a treatment plan that incorporates therapeutic techniques and approaches that will help you most. You’ll use that plan together in future sessions to help you create the change you hope to make in your life.

It will not! We recognize that everyone is an individual, and we don’t insist on any belief structures for our patients.
We use our faith and the values it instills in us like altruism and connection to others as guiding principles in our lives and in our approach as therapists.
We feel the principles of connection, helping others, honesty and accountability, and being open to positive change are supportive in the therapy room.
We have found that regardless of a patient’s personal beliefs, they have found something meaningful and helpful in this approach.
